Learning to tell our stories: Regular Preterite Verbs

Introduction

In this lesson you will learn to conjugate regular preterite verbs.  This will include verbs ending in AR, ER, and IR.

Video #2 : Practice Activity

Listen to the song "Consejo de Amor" by Tini y Morat.  Highlight each verb in the lyrics that is conjugated in the regular preterite tense. Click the Doc below to view the lyrics.

Assessment Activity:

Write your own story entitled "Ayer"

Choose 2-3 main characters

These can be animals, people, talking food, or anything else that interests you

Write an outline

What will happen at the beginning, middle, and end of your story? Remember, the theme is "yesterday" or "ayer".

Write it!

Write the story using recent vocabulary and words you already know.  Do your best to include 10 preterite verbs to tell us what happened to your character yesterday.

Check it!

Check each past tense verb and make sure it is correctly conjugated.  Then check your work against the rubric to see how you will be scored.

Summary

In this lesson you learned how to conjugate verbs in the preterite tense to begin to speak and write in the past tense.  You identified examples of these verbs in music, and created your own story using your new skills.
